What is 3D Scanning?

3D laser scanning generates a digital representation of a physical part, providing the user with exact measurements as a means of undertaking wider digital analysis.

3D Scanning for CAD-based Inspection

Our portable, high-precision 3D measurement device from FARO means that we are able to maintain our superior product quality through digital verification.

As part of our quality assurance process, we use the 3D scanning equipment to compare components to their original CAD data and evaluate any deviations in form. This ensures that every part produced is within specified tolerances.

We can also perform non-contact 3D part inspections, if the component is particularly fragile or complex. Using the portable ScanArm, we can provide Quality and Validation reports to support every inspection.

3D Scanning for Reverse Engineering

Using the FARO ScanArm equipment, we can also reverse engineer products where CAD data is insufficient, or in some cases, non-existent. Generating an editable CAD model in this way offers an effective, cost effective solution to quickly reproducing an existing component.

Jigs, Fixtures and Gauges

We also use our 3D scanning equipment to support the wider Engineering department in the manufacture of our own range of Jigs, Fixtures and Gauges.

We design, manufacture and assemble a range of customised Nesting Jigs, Alignment jigs and Holding or Assembly Fixtures using 3D CAD software. The on site Faro ScanArm allows us to prove these designs and provide validation reports for our clients.
