The ultimate maintainance free portable flood light
Client Brief:
Vacuum Castings of the main plastic casing and lamp head including lens cover were required for evaluation, exhibition, marketing and product launch.
Action:
The main casings were produced as vacuum castings from Fully finished SL master models and silicone tools. The castings were fully pigmented to match BS references and supplied in 3 colour variations of yellow, beige and olive green. As the lens cover was a fairly uncomplicated flat geommetry, we opted to machine the master from a flat acrylic sheet with details produced from SL and grafted in place. This ensured the optimum surface finish and clarity. Subsequently a silicone tool was produced and water clear, UV stable, vacuum castings. The blue keypad was also produced as a vacuum casting from an SL master and silicone tools, but this also included the overmoulding of clear areas to allow the LED indicator to illuminate. Rub down graphics were also applied.
Result:
10 sets of high quality vacuum castings were supplied, which not only allowed pre-production testing, but the fully working prototypes were used for the production of all of the marketing material and were exhibited arround the world, securing production orders.
The flood light has been very well received and came Runner Up for The Best Safety Product in the 2006 Health and Safety Awards.
